FAQ
Should I use the MCP server or the REST API?
Use the MCP server when people ask questions in Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant: they sign in once and ask in plain English. Use the REST API when your own code needs the data. Both use the same tools and the same plan.
Which AI clients work?
Claude (from Claude's connector directory on the web, desktop, mobile and Cowork, plus Claude Code), ChatGPT (chats and deep research, where custom connectors are allowed), Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot agent mode, and any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP.
The connector says it couldn't connect or sign in. What do I check?
In Claude, connect from Claude's connector directory; in other apps, use the exact address from your account page. Make sure your account has an active plan, and sign in with the same FDA Intel account in the browser window that opens. If your company blocks pop-ups or third-party sign-in, allow the FDA Intel sign-in page. Still stuck? Disconnect the app on your account page and add it again.
Does the plan include the full text of documents?
No. Every structured field, the summary and the opening words of each observation, with the document's link. Full documents are bought and downloaded on the site. Need full document text at scale (thousands of documents) through an API? Talk to us.
What counts as a request?
One request is one tool call in Claude or ChatGPT, or one API call. Usage resets every month.
How much does it cost?
Standard is $78/month on the annual plan (billed yearly as $935) or $89/month billed monthly, for 1 user and 10,000 requests a month (up to 1,000 a day); Premium is $218/month on the annual plan (billed yearly as $2,615) or $249/month billed monthly, for up to 3 users and 50,000 requests a month (up to 5,000 a day). Yearly billing saves about 12%. Both plans are flat prices for the same data and include Claude, ChatGPT and the API. On yearly billing the requests are still a monthly allowance: it resets every month of the year, on the same day of the month as your start date. A top-up adds 10,000 requests for $29, one time. Unused top-up requests end with the current monthly allowance period. Documents are bought separately. Enterprise, larger teams or bulk data: talk to us.
How do I cancel?
Cancel any time in Account → AI & API: Cancel plan keeps access until the end of the period you paid for, or use Manage billing (the Creem billing portal). Removing the connector from Claude or ChatGPT does not cancel the subscription.
Can the AI change anything in my account?
No. Every tool is read-only and marked readOnlyHint. Connected apps can search and read; they cannot buy, change or delete anything.
Where does the data come from, and how fresh is it?
FDA public data (inspections, citations, compliance actions, import alerts, recalls, registrations and approvals) and the FDA Intel catalog of inspection documents, each record with its own dates. New documents are added as they are processed; catalog_stats reports the newest document date.
Is my API key safe to use in a browser?
Only in your own browser, for your own use. Never ship a key inside a public web page or app; call the API from a server instead.
Can I get a test account for a directory review or an evaluation?
Yes, for directory reviewers and evaluations: email us and we enable a reviewer account with Standard access.
